Doug Cave

Doug is a saxophonist, composer and producer.

With a commanding energy on stage and fierce work ethic in the studio, Doug continues to carve his niche as a formidable and friendly musician and producer. Between the groovy psych-soul of Cousin Kula (Rhythm Section Intl) and the wonky electro-jazz of Hippo, Doug thrives on the communion of writing, touring and performing. Beyond his own bands, Doug performs freelance with a growing collection of artists including Hannah Williams (The Voice UK) and The Allergies, and records horns remotely; notably featuring on soundtracks for BBC TV and Radio.

As well as performing, Doug works as an independent producer and mixer for a range of genre-spanning artists. Music composed, performed and produced by Doug consistently features on national and global radio stations, including BBC Radio 1 - 3 & 6Music, NTS, KEXP, KCRW and Worldwide FM as well frequent rotation in Spotify’s Jazz and Psych playlisting. Praise for Doug's work has come from a breadth of musical heavyweights ranging from Gilles Peterson, Jamie Cullum, Jamz Supernova and Huey Morgan, as well as favourable write-ups in national press including The Guardian, NME and Jazzwise.

Based in Bristol UK, Doug spends time exploring sounds, collaborating with other musicians and producing new music from his home studio. An aptitude for computers and electronics, a love of experimentation and a degree in engineering means much time is spent in pursuit of new noises.

In between all that, Doug also teaches saxophones and synthesis too - get in touch for more details and check out the latest goings on below!
